Space Days Space Days at ImagineNewmarket June and July 2008 - An early report A series of seven events to engage children in learning and fun around a theme of space, We looked at our solar system, the galaxies and the history of manned space flight. We even made and launched rockets together. The ImagineNewmarket has been delivering events together for nearly four years now. As a community organisation we use the skills of our volunteers and supporters to deliver activities that are fun, learning experiences and which help us to move towards our goal of creating an Imagination Centre for everyone in Newmarket. We worked together thinking about our solar system, the speed, size and relative position of the planets and the sun. Thank you to our Chair for being such a stoical sun during the day! We worked together to make our rockets, thinking about flight, take-off and recovery. The individual groups came up with very imaginative solutions including adding wings and some very large parachutes. The basic building blocks of our flight programme. We made them fly too...astonishingly. We were imaginative in our choice of fuel bowsers...and how we transported it to the launch pad.
