Welcome and introduction
to ImagineNewmarket.
Outline and aims of the
day.
Concept of Children's
Forum.
Competition to be
arranged.
Talk on buildings and
large
community use buildings, architects
work, plans and design.
Power of 10, 10 people,
ten areas, ten building materials, patterns using 10.

As KS1, joint session
|
Need banner, flyers,
packs for children.
Plans to show, models of
buildings, video/internet sites
Decide on competition
Examples of 10 building
materials, eg stone, bricks, wood, glass, plastic, steel, chalk, flint,
carrstone, marble and other rocks.

9.45 – 10.30
|
1.10 Little Pigs
Create a story board
based on The Three Little Pigs. Expand the story to 10, using the
children's ideas for names of pigs and the materials used, could range
from plastics, glass etc to sweets, recycled materials.
2.Work in groups of 4/5
children. Create a story Board for a Big Book of their own building,
using one of the 10 materials and keeping to the story.

Building Designs.
Pictures of 10 large
buildings and their design for purpose and aesthetics.
Eg Gherkin building,
Japanese Children's Centre, Suffolk school,
Look at space around the
building, fitting in with the 'scape' surrounding it.
In 10 groups design and
draw the outside of ImagineNewmarket.
Add to 'Wall of Ideas'

Wall of Ideas.
Need a range of
materials for creating models.
Need pictures of
different buildings.

Use outside space, adult
supervision for play, create boundaries for children.

Talk about large
buildings they have been to etc, have pictures of other centres.
Talk about what the
building might look like, the spaces needed, what you might have inside.
Individually or in
pairs/groups draw outside
of the building. Draw aspects of the inside space, eg use of the rooms,
entrance.

give, how much space do we need for the entrance. What sort of spaces
do we need inside.
